Nation’s leading cat welfare charity welcomes Jane Frost, Zain Richardson, and Chris Ringrose to its board

Cats Protection has announced the appointment of three new trustees to its board. They will support the charity to deliver its new 10-year strategy which focuses on growing its education, advocacy, adoption, and neutering work.

Zain Richardson, a former management consultant, brings expertise from a career including global marketing and commercial leadership roles at major consumer brands such as Aero, Aman, Marriott International, and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. He and his husband have an adopted cat called Claude.

Zain said: “I’ve always been an animal lover and am thrilled to join the Cats Protection Board of Trustees at this pivotal moment. The organisation has scaled its feline welfare activity and I am very excited to advance this important work and continued opportunity for impact.”

Dr Chris Ringrose also joins the board, having previously served as an independent member of the Investment Committee since 2019. Now retired, he was previously a senior partner with PwC, where he led their regional HR consulting practice for around 10 years. Chris and his wife are animal lovers and have two golden retrievers. They are currently in between cats and looking for two kittens, having lost Misty (the second of twin sisters) earlier this year just short of her 19th birthday.

Chris said: “Cats Protection does extraordinary work and I’m delighted to join its board. The charity’s ambitious new strategy offers huge opportunities for growth and making real headway in improving cat welfare through key areas such as advocacy and education.”

Jane Frost CBE, an award-winning marketer and CEO of Market Research Society, will bring additional brand and marketing expertise to the board. With senior leadership roles in a diverse range of organisations such as the BBC, Shell, Unilever, and HMRC, Jane also has vast experience in non-executive director and trustee roles in a range of charities and non-profits. Jane’s family always included cats, frequently, by tradition, named Judy and the love of her life Tigger.

Jane said: “This is a truly exciting time to join the board of trustees at Cats Protection. The charity has seen huge growth over the last 20 years and the nation’s love of cats is only increasing. This gives us a great platform on which to keep building towards our vision where every cat lives its best possible life.”

Cats Protection CEO, John May, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jane, Chris, and Zain to our board of trustees. Cats Protection has ambitious plans for the next few years as we approach our centenary, and the expertise and support of our trustees will play a huge role in helping us deliver them. The nation’s cats are in good hands.”

Cats Protection Chair of Trustees, Kit Sturgess, said “It is great to have three new trustees joining us. Jane, Zain, and Chris bring a wealth of new skills, experience and enthusiasm to help Cats Protection achieve our 10-year strategy; I am already enjoying working with them and appreciate their new perspectives as they get to know the charity and all that we do. “

Cats Protection helps around 166,000 cats and kittens each year and is a leading expert in cat welfare. The charity has already seen the number of cats on its waiting lists grow with fewer people adopting cats due to the cost-of-living crisis.
