National Organization Emphasizes the Importance of Spay/Neuter Before Adoption In Order to Save Animal Lives
United Spay Alliance, a national organization dedicated to promoting affordable, accessible, and timely spay/neuter, has issued a new position statement emphasizing the importance of spaying or neutering animals prior to adoption.
“We have seen time and again the positive benefits that spaying and neutering prior to adoption can have for individual animals, as well as for shelters and rescues, and communities as a whole,” said Esther Mechler, founder and president of United Spay Alliance. “From unwanted litters to overcrowded shelters, spaying and neutering animals today prevents animal suffering tomorrow. Spay/neuter is public health for pets.”
United Spay Alliance will host a live panel conversation about their position statement, and the positive impact Neuter Before Adoption policies have on animal welfare. The online webinar will be on Wednesday, September 27 at 12 p.m. ET and will feature leaders in the spay/neuter movement, including:
- Dr. Phil Bushby, MS, DACVS – Professor & Marcia Lane Endowed Chair of Humane Ethics and Animal Welfare, Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine
- Peter Marsh – Author & Researcher; Founder, Solutions to Overpopulation of Pets
- Dr. Jeff Young – Founder, Planned Pethood International; Animal Planet’s Rocky Mountain Vet!
The event is free and open to anyone wishing to know more about Neuter Before Adoption and the positive impact it can have on animals and shelters alike. Registration is available here.
